Ekta Kapoor is ‘polluting the minds of the young generation’, says Supreme Court in latest hearing: The Supreme Court of Indian on Friday slammed producer Ekta Kapoor for “objectionable content” in her web series ‘XXX’. The Supreme Court on Friday said She is “polluting the minds of the young generation” of the country, PTI reported. It made the statement while hearing pleas by the producer challenging the arrest warrants issued for her over the web series XXX.
A court in Bihar’s Begusarai had issued arrest warrant against Ekta Kapoor
A court in Bihar’s Begusarai on Wednesday 28th September had given arrest warrants against Ekta Kapoor, movie maker and producer, and her mother Shobha Kapoor on charges of offending soldiers and hurting the feelings of their relatives in her web series ‘XXX’ (Season-2).
The court of judge Vikas Kumar gave the warrant based on a complaint lodged by Shambhu Kumar an ex-serviceman and an occupant of Begusarai. Kumar, in his complaint in 2020, had claimed that series ‘XXX’ (Season-2) highlighted a few shocking scenes connected with a soldier’s wife.
“The series was aired on ALTBalaji, an OTT platform owned by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms Ltd. Shobha Kapoor is also associated with Balaji Telefilms,” said Hrishikesh Pathak, advocate of Kumar. At Friday’s hearing, a bench of Judges Ajay Rastogi and CT Ravikumar said that something must be done for the situation. “OTT content is accessible to all,” the court said. “What kind of choice are you providing to the people?”
According to the information, the court had issued summons to her and asked her to appear in the court. However, on behalf of her, informed the court that those scenes have been removed from the series after the complaint. But she did not appear before the court, after which a warrant was issued against her.

In fact, in an episode of Season 2 titled “Pyaar Aur Plastic”, the extra-marital affair of the wife of an army soldier has been shown. While her husband is out on duty. It was because of this plot of the story that a complaint was filed against her.XXX is a 2018 erotic comedy-drama series directed by Ken Ghosh. It stars Kaira Dutt, Aparna Bajpayee, Rithvik Dhanjani, Shantanu Maheshwari, Ankit Gera, Priyanka Talukdar and Aparna Sharma. XXX consists of five different stories, showing different aspects of the sexual relationship.
The Supreme court hearing
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Ekta Kapoor, argued the content available on OTT platforms is available to users based on subscription and that there is freedom of choice in this country.
The judges, however, wondered what kind of choice is being given to the audience. “Everytime you travel to this court….we don’t appreciate this,” the bench added. “We will put a cost on you for filing such a petition. Mr Rohatgi please convey this to your client. Just because you can afford and hire the services of good lawyers….this court is not for those who have voices.”

Besides this FIR there are other two other FIR filled against her for same web series in Muzaffarpur and Indore.
“This court works for those who don’t have voices…if these people who have all kinds of facilities cannot get justice then think of the situation of this common man. We have seen the order and we have our reservations,” the bench added.
Senior promoter Mukul Rohatgi, showing up for Kapoor submitted in the summit court that the matter is filed before the Patna high court however isn’t supposed to come for a hearing soon. The court has kept the appeal pending until further notice and proposed that a local legal counselor ought to be relegated to get status of appeal in Patna high court.
